Welcome to Jim Storm Photography! We are passionate photographers, best of friends, wanderlust travel buddies, and a dedicated husband and wife team. We have different backgrounds drawn together thru our love of capturing the beauty in all people and the world around us thru the eye of our lens…So who are we?

Jim is a professional actor from a third-generation theatrical family. He has worked in film, television, and the theatre for over 50 years, most famously as a member of the cast of the original “Dark Shadows” and “The Bold and the Beautiful”. On his eighth birthday, Jim’s father gave him a darkroom kit (instead of the desired first baseman’s glove), which changed his life forever as he watched mesmerized as the old Columbia Opera House magically appeared in the developing tray. Heavily influenced by photographers of the WPA era, Jim has been intrigued by the photography of Edward Curtis and Sebastião Salgado who have preserved the lives of indigenous people. In addition, while making a film in Billings, Montana. Storm’s interest in the traditional American past time of the rodeo grew.

Valerie is a retired physician and daughter of a portrait photographer and sculpture. Her passionate love of photography began when she was given a 110 camera as a child. As a former Director of Medical Student Education and “Humanism in Medicine” award recipient at Harvard Medical School, Valerie was also a photojournalist documenting the clinical journey of her Harvard and MIT students in becoming competent and compassionate doctors. As a member of the Board of Governors of the Massachusetts American College of Physicians, Valerie was lauded for her photography contributions.

Together, we have traveled extensively on the backroads of the United States and Europe enjoying the love of family while meeting new friends. We have treasured the opportunity to photograph iconic treasures seen in landscapes, art, and architecture, to historic events such as in “Standing Rock” and American’s favorite pastime of the Rodeo, to the simplest beauty of nature and its magical nostalgia. Most recently, we have had our work published in ‘Cultural Daily’ and on display in several gallery shows, including Venice, North Hollywood, and Idyllwild, California.

Our cameras have allowed us to see beauty in all things and has filled our hearts with heartwarming tranquility and excitement. Thus, we are delighted to have you join us and experience a glimpse of our photographic adventures. We hope you find something that sparks a memory that brings you joy.
